The Flash Season 4 Latest Episode, What's Cool and What Isn't
What's cool:
5. We get to see a new metahuman other than the bus metahumans

This season of The Flash has focused alot on the meta humans that Barry Allen accidentally created when he was pulled out of The Speed Force. But just how realistic is it to always have an expected set of bus metas be the only ones causing trouble on every episode? The show fixes this by introducing a fire weilding meta call Fry, to not only serve as an interesting distraction from the meta of the week, Melting Point. But to also add meaning to this bus meta's abilities.
4. Elongated man shakes off his fear of The Thinker
Ralph, The Elongated Man seeing how other bus metas have fallen to The Thinker's evil plot, is gripped by fear. Under alot of pressure, he has an outburst with Iris over what he describe as her safe spot as leader of the team. Ralph believed she gets to issue orders but never faces the risk of field work. But the subsequent events of the show will lead to Ralph overcoming his fear, seeing how well Iris handled herself as a speedster.
3. Harry has got his creep factor back
Harrison Wells has always been a fascinating character. Wells is a brain child of the show and very interesting member of the team, Harry used to have a huge mystery about him; he was infact a disguised Reverse Flash, who was later killed. This story line had Wells at his most intriguing state. There have been subsequent lovable versions of Wells, but none have yet to attain the level of machination the first Wells had, maybe until now. In order to beat The Thinker at his own game, Harry sets out to create an Intelligence Booster, a somewhat Thinking Cap of his own design. . This might be his greatest accomplishment yet or his undoing. He rightfully put it when he said "just like Eobard Thawn". Talk about an evil earth-two Wells.
Iris West gets The Flash's speed and becomes Central City's hero. Melting Point, the meta of the week, can transfer the ability of one meta to another. That's how Iris got Barry's speed. The fun part is how Iris used her speed effectively and humorously as well; She undressed both herself and Caitlin in a hilarious cloth swapping stunt. That was indeed awesome. But most of all she saved the day. Considering that Iris West of our earth has never been a speedster in dC history, it's quite huge seeing her as a speedster. Although it is worthy of note that she gave off purple electricity as she ran, just like Eliza aka trajectory did before vanishing into The Speed Force. What could this mean? Was Iris' power eventually going to kill her if she kept them? Maybe that's what the show was hinting at. Nevertheless, it was a time of superhero glory for Iris West in the entire DC universe.
1. Barry is a hero even without his speed
Barry was no longer a speedster of Central City, Iris was. Even she had to console Barry on the loss of his speed. It was indeed a hard time for him. But in this moment of great loss Barry never looked better. He found a way to be important to the team, by providing the guidance which played a huge role in Iris' success against the Fry.
What's not cool:
3. Melting point's actions are inconsistent
2. Cisco is insensitive
Cisco’s ability to rightfully name a character on the spot has always been a fun part of the show. But in this episode seeing him do this and even go on to jot the name of Melting Point, just feels totally insensitive and to say the least annoying. His best pal Barry Allen just ceased to be The Flash! And all he cares about is rightfully naming the meta human responsible for this? That is just absurd. To be realistic, it made Cisco look like he really didn’t care.
1. The Speed Force is cheapened

It’s quite amazing how the show has been able to bestow superspeed on characters without bothering to provide any actual reason. For iris’s speed an explanation was given but is it really that easy to disconnect Barry from The Speed Force and place any other person in his place? How did Eliza, for example, use a drug created by Caitlin to become a speedster? The explanation to these events is just to simplistic. The show’s reason for Barry Allen being The Flash when he conversed with Iris after she gave up her speed, is so not good enough. Is Barry really The Flash simply because he has a ‘light’ inside of him? As ambiguous as this expression may seem, it doesn’t do justice to a plot point that’s got alot of fans wondering. In the comics Barry has been said to be the creator of the speed force itself. So what’s really special about Barry? is it his lineage or is he just radiating more light than other humans. This is one plot point that need an actual answer.
